Peshkar Productions and Oldham Libraries present a week long celebration of all things digital including help and advice, games, digital art and workshops.

Saturday 24 March 2018

11am – 4pm

All events are free.

Join us for a day of digital explorations and experiments with some of the best digital artists around. Borrow a micro:bit, do a course with Google, play retro games and much more

Smart Materials workshop 1-4pm with We Heart Tech. Free make and play activities for all ages. Join us and get creative with materials that change properties in different environments.

Micro:bits station - 11am-4pm Visit the library stall to try out a BBC Micro:bit and even borrow one to take home.

Google Digital Bus - Do a free course with Google. Choose from Writing for Social Media (11am-12pm), Build a Digital Marketing Plan (1-2pm) and Social Media Strategy (3-4pm) No need to book, just turn up. Perfect for self employed people and small businesses.

Retro gaming with UKGN - Play your favourite retro games and discover new ones with UKGN. No need to book, just turn up.

Baby coders - Try out our robot mice and Ozobots, an introduction to coding for the under 5s.

Hour of Code for Over 60's

Have a go at coding at our Digital Festival!

A fun session for beginners where we combine tea and tech while learning the basics of coding.

Animation Creation

Have a go at stop motion animation at Oldham Libraries Digital Festival!

Grab your favourite toy or LEGO minfig and use stop motion techniques to bring your characters to life! Or have a go at sculpting a clay figure to star in your own stop motion film. This workshop is for ages 7+

This is a free event but places are limited so you need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come and make your own special piece of digital art, play with lights and cameras with artist Tolu Sholanke


Sonic Experiments Workshop – Between 11am and 4pm

Children’s Library

Make your own music and sonic landscape with artist Kevin Testagrossa


Digital Storytelling Workshop – 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm

Children’s Library

Come and take pictures around Oldham Library and then create your own stories with artist Fay Beesley


#4F4O4U4R Performance – 1pm – Oldham Library Performance Space

Come along to the premiere of the digital performance art piece #4F4O4U4R. Created and performed by young people from Waterhead Academy, Oasis Academy Oldham and Mahdlo Youth Zone. You get to choose what is performed and when.


All workshops and performances are walk-up or places can be booked on the day of the festival, simply approach the Peshkar desk in the library reception.

Watch out for other events being held in the lead up to this event including:

Online Basics – a free introductory IT course covering Internet and email basics. This is available at all libraries on various dates.

Big Ideas Generators – get an introduction to coding on Monday 19 March 10am–12pm followed by an introduction to 3D printing from 1.30pm at Oldham Library.

Ignite Oldham – share your ideas and inspire others with a short presentation on Thursday 22 March, 7pm at Oldham Library.
